This notice explains the main categories of information WebcamTravels handles when you browse the site, create an account, submit a webcam or request management rights.
Information you provide
Depending on how you use the service, this can include your email address, display name, webcam submission details, owner or business details, contact information and ownership evidence you choose to provide for moderation.
Account and security data
WebcamTravels uses signed session data for authentication and security. Operational controls may process a network identifier for abuse prevention; the rate-limit store keeps a one-way keyed hash rather than the raw identifier. Server logs also record request information needed to operate and troubleshoot the service.
Transactional account email
WebcamTravels uses Postmark to deliver account setup and password-reset messages. For those emails, the recipient address and delivery-related message data are processed only as needed to send and operate the transactional email service.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is optional and is only used after you allow analytics in the WebcamTravels cookie preferences. You can reject analytics or change your choice later using Cookie settings in the footer.
How information is used
- operate accounts, favourites and owner-management features;
- review webcam submissions, ownership claims and source-change requests;
- maintain platform security, reliability and abuse controls;
- understand aggregate site usage when analytics consent has been granted;
- respond to enquiries, corrections and rights/removal requests.
Third-party content and services
WebcamTravels can display or link to third-party webcam/video providers, map services and other external services. Their own privacy practices apply when your browser interacts with those services.
Data retention and choices
Information is retained for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, including moderation history, security, dispute handling and legal obligations. You can withdraw optional analytics consent at any time. For account, privacy, correction or removal questions, use the Contact page.
